STEFANO CIBELLI
Architect

He graduated in Architecture from the Sapienza University of Rome. After graduating in 1997, he began his professional activity in Troia (Foggia), his hometown, founding together with Piero Guadagno the studio Cibelli / Guadagno Architetti, which mainly focuses on architectural design, restoration, and conservation of historic heritage, as well as design projects.
In 2000 they participated in the Venice Biennale with a project that won a design competition and was exhibited in the Italian Pavilion in the City of the Third Millennium section. In 2002 they first worked on the restoration of the Cathedral of Troia and then on the creation of the Cathedral Treasury Museum, also undertaking interior design projects for commercial spaces and residences, followed by the restoration of several historic buildings and two 18th-century convent structures.
In 2004 they collaborated with the University of Basilicata as lecturers in the postgraduate Master Recpolis, focused on the study and promotion of historic cities. In 2009 they were selected by the CON[FINE] Gallery in Apricena for the exhibition and publication Young Architects of Capitanata.
In November 2010, the Museum of the Treasury project was selected and published in the interior design section of the First Architecture Prize for Capitanata 2010 CON[TEMPORANEA]. In 2012 they were included in the catalog Tra Arte e Design alongside Compasso d’Oro awardees and Ugo La Pietra, designing for the De Mura brand a furniture collection balancing tradition and innovation, presented at Milan’s Fuorisalone 2012.
The Press bookshelf and the Sifter outdoor lamp were later exhibited in 2013 and 2014 at the Triennale di Milano as part of the exhibition HABITAPULIA, curated by Michele De Lucchi for the Puglia Region.
In 2017 they took part in the Young Stone Project – Le pietre e il Giardino with the Department of Architecture of the University G. D’Annunzio of Chieti-Pescara, presenting their work at Marmomacc 2017 in Verona. In the same year, they designed the lighting and acoustic project for the Cathedral of Troia, which was selected for the Ad’A Architecture Award of the Adriatic 2020.
In 2018 they created the restaurant area for the new Business School headquarters of LUISS University in Rome, within the former greenhouse spaces of Villa Blanc. Their work has been published in several international books and specialized magazines. Since 2015 he has been a teacher of Drawing and Art History in secondary schools.
