CARMELO DI BARTOLO

Since 1980, Carmelo Di Bartolo has developed studies and research on bionics applied to advanced design processes. In 1998 he founded Design Innovation, an advanced design research laboratory that produces strategic innovation plans for Italian and international companies and public institutions. Within this context, he has directed projects and research for CRF – Centro Ricerche Fiat, Fiat Auto, Piaggio, Samsung, the Triennale di Milano, the World Bank, UNIDO, Indesit Company, Ariete, Argotractors, and others.
He is a professor at the University of Montreal (Canada), Faculty of Planning – School of Industrial Design, and at IULM University in Milan. He is a member of the Academia Nacional de Bellas Artes in Argentina.
He served as Director and Presidential Coordinator of the Istituto Europeo di Design, where in 1982 he founded the CRIED – Centro Ricerche Istituto Europeo, which he directed until 1998. He has been a contract professor at the Politecnico di Milano and a visiting professor at the École cantonale de design in Lausanne and at TEC de Monterrey in Guadalajara, Mexico.
He carries out extensive activity as a visiting professor and speaker at international universities and research centers.
