Researcher and cataloguer, deeply fascinated by design culture beyond Italy alone, she has always emphasized her humanistic background, which began at the Liceo Classico Parini and continued at the Università degli Studi di Milano Faculty of Humanities.
She was among the first to explore new fields within decorative arts and design, such as the relationship between sport and design and women’s design practices. She is co-founder and President of the D come Design.
She taught History of Design at the Politecnico di Milano (until 2008) and at the Accademia di Brera, where she still teaches. From 2010 to 2016 she served as President of the ISIA Faenza. From 2012 to 2015 she was a member of the Board of Directors of the Fondazione Museo del Design della Triennale, and since 2016 she has been part of its Scientific Committee.
She is a trustee member of the Design History Foundation and serves on several committees of the Fondazione Cologni dei Mestieri d’Arte. She has published numerous books, including her most recent, La formazione del designer in Italia, published by Marsilio Editori in 2015.
