EUGENIO ALBERTI SCHATZ

Born in Milan to an Italian father and a Russian mother, he has a background in classical literature studies. He works in the field of communication and events as an author and creative director. For several years he has explored the territories of contemporary art, communication, and photography, both as an artist and as a curator and critic. In this field he has published with Einaudi, DeriveApprodi, Skira, Rizzoli, and Blonk.
He has translated literary and theatrical works from Russian and published travel accounts. In 1999, together with photographer Stefano Torrione, he undertook a four-month journey through Central Asia and the Tien Shan, retracing the stages of a trip made by Scipione Borghese and Jules Brocherel one hundred years earlier.
Since 2004 he has published the online journal of unpublished texts ospiteambiguo.it. He has attended film courses with Paolo Rosa of Studio Azzurro and with Leonid Alekseychuk. In 2006 he produced the documentary La testa! Le mani! Gli occhi! – Eugenio Carmi, un artista in fabbrica (Italsider, Genoa 1956–1965) for the Municipality of Genoa.
He has taught creative writing at IED Milan and for the past four years has led a writing workshop at NABA within the Master’s program in Communication Design. He is an editor at the publishing house Skira and Creative Director at the events agency Sinergie. He curated the book Design in Town Troia 2013 – A Case of Creative Assault.
